Domantas Sabonis Out for the First Kings Games Due to Injury
SACRAMENTO – The Sacramento Kings have confirmed that their star center, Domantas Sabonis, will be out for the first two regular season games due to a Grade 1 hamstring strain, the team announced.
Sabonis suffered the injury during the preseason game against the Clippers last Wednesday night, which prevented him from playing in the last preseason game in Los Angeles on Friday, while undergoing medical tests.
Although considered a minor injury, Sabonis will not be available for the Kings’ debut in Phoenix on Wednesday, nor for the first home game against the Jazz next Friday. The earliest possible date for his return would be Sunday, October 26, in a home game against the Lakers.
The Kings were already without Keegan Murray, power forward, who will be out for at least a month due to a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb. The team has been trying out Isaac Jones, second-year center, and veterans Dario Saric and Drew Eubanks to fill the positions of Murray and Sabonis during the preseason.
