Nuggets Shake Up the Market: Porter Jr. to Brooklyn in Exchange for Johnson

The Denver Nuggets have finalized a significant move in the NBA market, sending Michael Porter Jr. and an unprotected 2032 first-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets, in exchange for Cam Johnson, according to sources close to the situation. Both players could become unrestricted free agents in 2027. Porter Jr. has a salary of $38.3 million for next season and $40.8 million in 2026-27. For his part, Johnson will receive $21.1 million next season and $23.3 million in 2026-27. Porter Jr. has played his entire six-year career with the Nuggets, averaging 18.2 points and seven rebounds in 77 games last season. Johnson had a standout season in his sixth year in the league, averaging 18.8 points per game, a career high, with 47.5% field goal shooting and 39% from the three-point line. Johnson was included in the trade that sent Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Mikal Bridges. After Bridges’ departure to the New York Knicks last summer, Johnson took on the role of leading scorer in the Nets’ reconstruction. Also, Bruce Brown Jr. agreed to a one-year contract with the Nuggets.
