Tim Hardaway Jr. Bolsters the Nuggets with a One-Year Contract

Free agent guard Tim Hardaway Jr. has reached a one-year agreement with the Denver Nuggets, according to sources close to the situation. Hardaway had an outstanding season with the Detroit Pistons in the 2024-25 campaign, and now joins Denver after the 2023 NBA champions finalized a deal with Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports. Last season, Hardaway started 77 games for the Detroit Pistons, averaging 11 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. These 77 starts were the most in Hardaway’s 12-year NBA career. The Nuggets have had a busy few days, as, according to sources, they traded Michael Porter Jr. to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Cam Johnson on Monday, and also added free agent Bruce Brown to the team. On Tuesday, sources reported that the Nuggets acquired Jonas Valanciunas from the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Dario Saric. Hardaway was acquired by the Pistons from the Dallas Mavericks, where he served primarily as the team’s sixth man. The veteran was one of last summer’s additions that helped fuel an unprecedented 30-win turnaround for Detroit last season, resulting in a playoff berth. The 33-year-old player has just finished the last year of a four-year, $75 million contract.
