Nicholas Kerr Ascends to the Warriors’ Technical Staff: Steve Kerr Promotes Him

Steve Kerr, coach of the Golden State Warriors, has promoted his son Nicholas to the team’s coaching staff, as announced on Thursday.

Nicholas Kerr, 32, served as the head coach of the Warriors in the G League, in Santa Cruz, California, for the last two seasons. During his leadership, Santa Cruz had a 20-14 record and finished in fourth place in the G League Western Conference in both seasons.

Born in Cleveland and raised in San Diego, Nicholas Kerr played college basketball at San Diego and Cal. He was a graduate assistant at Cal in the 2016-17 season before moving to the San Antonio Spurs as an intern.

The young Kerr worked in the player development department for the Warriors and was a video coordinator for three seasons. In 2021, the Warriors hired him as an assistant coach for the G League in Santa Cruz, before becoming head coach in 2023.

Steve Kerr, 59 years old, has been the head coach of Golden State for 11 seasons, starting in 2014-15. The Warriors have won four NBA titles during his tenure and have advanced to the NBA Finals six times. The team has a regular season record of 567-308 under Steve Kerr, with 104 playoff wins.
