Bob Myers Leaves ESPN to Chair Sports at Harris Blitzer

Former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers will leave his role as a basketball analyst at ESPN to become president of sports for Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. This transition gives the executive, known for his championships, the opportunity to work in several of the world’s most important sports leagues. Myers will assume a full-time role with the aim of maximizing opportunities and strengthening processes for the Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) portfolio. This includes the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, Crystal Palace F.C. of the English Premier League, and an investment in the NASCAR team, Joe Gibbs Racing. Additionally, Myers will continue to support Josh Harris, managing partner of the Washington Commanders, after helping to build the framework of the leadership team that has guided the NFL franchise towards prominence. There will be no changes to the reporting structures for HBSE teams; the basketball and hockey presidents of operations will continue to report to the ownership of their respective teams. The arrival of Myers, and his reputation as a respected and powerful figure in the industry, strengthens HBSE’s executive ranks. He will work strategically with ownership and senior leadership groups in each team. Although he will continue to reside in California, he will travel regularly to HBSE/Commanders properties and events.

Bob Myers helped build the Warriors teams that won four NBA titles and worked as an analyst at ESPN after leaving his position at Golden State in 2023. Myers began his career as a sports agent for 14 years before moving to a position in the Warriors’ front office in 2011. During his 12 years with Golden State, Myers rose to president and general manager, building rosters that won NBA titles in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022, and earning the NBA Executive of the Year awards in 2015 and 2017. In 2024, Myers served as an advisor to Harris in building the Commanders’ organizational infrastructure, including the hiring of general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn. Myers also began working as a basketball analyst for ESPN after leaving his position with the Warriors in 2023, participating in the network’s pre- and post-game basketball programs.
