Luka Doncic will miss the first preseason games with the Lakers

PALM DESERT, Calif. – Luka Doncic will not participate in the first two preseason games of the Los Angeles Lakers this weekend, the team announced on Friday.

The Lakers will kick off their six-game preseason series on Friday against the Phoenix Suns in Palm Desert. Afterwards, they will play an away game against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.

The decision not to align the 26-year-old star was made by Doncic and the Lakers’ performance team, considering his participation in the EuroBasket and seeking to prioritize the long-term season.

Los Angeles will also be without LeBron James (nerve irritation in the glute), Marcus Smart (tendinopathy of the left Achilles tendon), Maxi Kleber (quadriceps) and rookie Adou Thiero (swelling of the left knee) against Phoenix.
