LeBron James Returns to the Courts: “My Body Responds”

El Segundo, California – LeBron James, star of the Los Angeles Lakers, has returned to training with the team in a five-on-five practice this Monday. His return to action in the NBA is imminent, marking a milestone in his recovery after an injury that kept him off the courts.

We’ve been taking this literally one minute, one hour, one step at a time throughout this whole process.

James has been assessing how his body responds, monitoring every step to ensure a safe return. Lakers coach JJ Redick indicated that James’ participation in the next game against the Utah Jazz is uncertain. James was officially listed as questionable for the match. Monday’s practice was the first of the season for James, who missed all of the preseason and the first 14 games due to sciatica issues that affected his lower back and the right side of his body.

Never in my life, since I started playing basketball, had I missed the start of the season. It has been a mental test, but I am prepared for it and I have been working, both mentally and physically, to be ready to rejoin the team.

James revealed that this is the second time he has faced sciatica, having also experienced it in the summer of 2023. He described the recovery process as a challenge. You get up one day and hope not to feel it when you get out of bed. You go to bed at night and hope not to feel it in bed. The player added that he has been doing exercises and mobility work to aid in his recovery, maintaining a positive mindset. James indicated that the last step to feel completely recovered is to regain his physical endurance.

My lungs feel like those of a newborn baby. I have to get my adult man lungs back.

The Los Angeles team has had a good start to the season, with a record of 10-4, and is now preparing to welcome back its star.
