Knicks in Search of New Coach: Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins in the Crosshairs

The New York Knicks are ready to begin formal interviews for their head coaching position. Sources close to the organization reported that they will meet with Mike Brown, former coach of the Sacramento Kings, and Taylor Jenkins, who previously led the Memphis Grizzlies. The conversations are scheduled for next week. This series of meetings will mark the first phase in the Knicks’ interview process, with the possibility of more meetings being scheduled in the future. Brown had already interviewed for the position in 2020, leaving a positive impression before New York opted for Tom Thibodeau. The search for a new coach comes after the surprising decision to fire Thibodeau last week, despite having led the team to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time in 25 years. The New York team encountered obstacles in its initial search. Several teams rejected the Knicks’ requests to speak with their coaches. Among them, the Dallas Mavericks denied permission for Jason Kidd to be interviewed. In addition to Kidd, Ime Udoka of the Houston Rockets and Chris Finch of the Minnesota Timberwolves were also coaches whose teams denied permission to be interviewed by New York. Attempts were also made to contact Quin Snyder, coach of the Atlanta Hawks, but the request was rejected.
