Ty Jerome, Out Due to Injury for the Grizzlies

Memphis Grizzlies guard Ty Jerome has been diagnosed with a high-grade right calf strain, the team announced on Monday. Jerome is expected to be re-evaluated in four weeks. The injury occurred during the first quarter of last week’s preseason game against the Miami Heat. Jerome arrived at the Grizzlies after a standout season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, signing a three-year, $28 million contract. Memphis faces multiple absences heading into the start of the regular season, which will begin on Wednesday against the New Orleans Pelicans.
  • Scottie Pippen Jr., backup point guard, will be out for at least 12 weeks with a left big toe injury.
  • Zach Edey, second-year center, is out with an ankle injury.
  • Brandon Clarke, backup forward, underwent knee surgery late last month and was expected to be re-evaluated six weeks after the surgery.
Star point guard Ja Morant has also been on the injury report due to an ankle injury, but is expected to play in Wednesday’s opening game.
