Tyler Herro Will Undergo Surgery and Miss the Start of the Season

Miami Heat All-Star Tyler Herro will undergo surgery on his left foot this Friday and will be out of action at the start of the 2025-26 season, according to the team.

Sources close to the team indicate that Herro is expected to be out for eight weeks. This timeframe would rule him out for approximately the first 12 games of the Heat’s regular season.

Herro suffered a left foot injury last season. Subsequently, the Heat guard suffered an ankle injury during a preseason workout, leading to the decision to undergo surgery, according to the same sources.

Miami will have to start next season without its top scorer. Herro is coming off his best season, averaging 23.9 points, 5.5 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game in the 2024-25 season.

Looking to rebound from a disappointing end, where the Heat were defeated in three of their four consecutive losses to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round, Miami added more offense and shooting to the team by trading for Norman Powell and Simone Fontecchio, and by selecting guard Kasparas Jakucionis to assist Herro, Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins and Kel’el Ware.

Herro made his first All-Star appearance last season and has averaged at least 20 points and five rebounds in each of the last four seasons.
