Hawks Send Kobe Bufkin to Nets in a Trade

The Atlanta Hawks have finalized a trade that sends guard Kobe Bufkin to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for cash considerations, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Bufkin, selected with the 15th overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft by the Hawks, has a $5.4 million contract for this season and a $6.9 million team option for the 2026-27 season.

This operation provides flexibility in the Hawks’ roster, generating a $4.5 million trade exception. On the other hand, 21-year-old Bufkin will have a new opportunity in Brooklyn.

Following this move, the Nets have $11.6 million in cap space and have 15 players with guaranteed contracts.

In the last two seasons, Bufkin participated in 27 games with the Hawks. In the G League, he averaged 23.6 points in 14 games during the 2023-24 season.
