Hawks Send Kobe Bufkin to Nets in Strategic Trade
The Atlanta Hawks have finalized a trade that sends guard Kobe Bufkin to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for financial considerations. The news, confirmed by sources close to the matter, marks a strategic move for both franchises.
Bufkin, selected in the number 15 position of the 2023 NBA draft by the Hawks, has a salary of $5.4 million for the current season. In addition, he has a team option for $6.9 million for the 2026-27 season.
This move provides flexibility in the Hawks’ roster and grants them a $4.5 million trade exception. For 21-year-old Bufkin, it represents a new opportunity in Brooklyn.
After this exchange, the Nets have $11.6 million in cap space, with 15 players under guaranteed contract.
In his two seasons with the Hawks, Bufkin participated in 27 games. In the G League, during the 2023-24 season, he played 14 games with an average of 23.6 points.
