Grizzlies Send Jay Huff to the Pacers

The Memphis Grizzlies have finalized a trade that sends center Jay Huff to the Indiana Pacers. In return, the Grizzlies will receive a second-round pick and the possibility of swapping another. Huff, who will turn 27 in August, earned his first standard NBA contract in his fourth season, after a notable initial impression in Memphis. In the past season, the power forward averaged almost seven points, with 40% effectiveness in three-point shots, in 3.1 attempts in 11.7 minutes of play with the Grizzlies. The Pacers are looking to reinforce their interior game after the departure of their starting center, Myles Turner, who joined the Milwaukee Bucks in free agency. Huff presents a similar profile to Turner, standing out for his ability to open the court with his shot and protect the rim. With the Grizzlies, Huff averaged 2.7 blocks per 36 minutes and was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year in the G League in 2023. His contract extends through the 2027-28 season.
