Giannis Reiterates Commitment to Milwaukee, but Leaves Door Open to the Future

Giannis Antetokounmpo reaffirmed his commitment to the Milwaukee Bucks this Wednesday, as the team prepares for the start of the regular season. However, the Greek star also hinted at the possibility of a change of heart in the future. Antetokounmpo’s statements come after rumors about possible negotiations between the Bucks and the New York Knicks, focused on a possible trade of the two-time MVP. Although Antetokounmpo stated he hadn’t read the reports, he reiterated his desire to compete for championships, whether in Milwaukee or elsewhere.

I’ve said this many times: I want to be in a situation where I can win. I believe in this team. I believe in my teammates. I am here to lead this team to where we can get. It’s definitely going to be difficult. We’ll take it day by day, but I’m here. So everything else doesn’t matter.

The player also revealed that he has communicated to his teammates and the people he respects and loves that, once he steps on the court or enters the facilities, everything else doesn’t matter, being totally focused on what lies ahead. Antetokounmpo, who missed the start of training camp in Milwaukee due to illness, rejoined the team last weekend in Miami before the first preseason game, although he didn’t play. The Bucks will host the Pistons on Thursday in Milwaukee. The Greek star described the offseason as a period of “temptation”, but now that training camp has begun, he has stayed away from social media and focused on his work. “It’s temptation. That starts when the season ends until the season starts,” Antetokounmpo said. “There will be a lot of people who will approach me or my agent and say that this is a possibility, that is a possibility… but at the end of the day, ultimately, I will make a decision. And my decision today is that I am here and I am committed to this team.”
