Giannis Antetokounmpo Out Due to Injury: Estimated Time of Absence
Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo suffered a low-grade left groin strain and will be out for one to two weeks, according to sources close to the team. The news comes after Antetokounmpo left Monday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers due to injury.Rivers also revealed that Antetokounmpo began to feel discomfort in his groin from the first quarter of Monday’s game, touching his left groin on several occasions before leaving the game. With 3:03 remaining in the second quarter, Antetokounmpo limped on defense before committing a foul and heading to the Bucks’ locker room. Antetokounmpo has had an impressive start to the season, averaging 32.6 points with 63% shooting efficiency, 11.3 rebounds, and 7.1 assists in his first 12 games. The Bucks have relied heavily on their superstar, with a usage rate of 36.4%, the second highest in the NBA before Monday and the highest for Antetokounmpo since the 2022-23 season.“I don’t know what the degree is, but I know it’s not serious, so that’s good news for us,” said Bucks coach Doc Rivers. “But still, he’ll probably be out for two weeks. And we’ll see. Hopefully, less, but most likely in that range.”

Without their star, the Bucks were outscored 59-49 and only shot 38.6% from the field after halftime against the Cavaliers, suffering their second straight loss of the season. The Bucks are 8-7 and 1-1 in games Antetokounmpo has missed this season.
