Los Angeles Clippers forward Derrick Jones Jr. has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 medial collateral ligament (MCL) sprain in his right knee and will be reevaluated in six weeks, according to sources close to the team.
Jones Jr. had barely played four games after recovering from another MCL sprain in the same knee, an injury that kept him off the courts for more than a month.
The recent injury occurred during Saturday’s defeat against the Boston Celtics.
Jones Jr.’s return coincided with a recent positive streak for the Clippers, who had accumulated six consecutive victories before the loss against Boston.
In a positive note, the Clippers got back their center Ivica Zubac on Saturday, who returned after an ankle injury that kept him out of action for two weeks.
