Stephen Curry Out with Contusion and Strain

The Golden State Warriors are preparing to face the absence of Stephen Curry, who will miss approximately one week due to a quadriceps contusion and a muscle strain, according to sources close to the team. The team confirmed the diagnosis after an MRI performed on Thursday. Curry will be reevaluated in a week to determine his progress. The injury occurred in the last minute of the game against the Rockets, where the Warriors suffered a home defeat with a score of 104-100. Despite the initial concern, sources suggest that the injury is not serious.

When I found out it was the quadriceps, I felt relieved. It’s better than an ankle or a knee.

Steve Kerr, Warriors coach
The Warriors will finish their current home game series facing the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday. Curry suffered the discomfort after several collisions in the last quarter. He attempted a charge on the Rockets guard, Amen Thompson, and was hit with an elbow. Subsequently, he received an offensive foul. In another play, Curry attempted a basket entry and was called for an offensive foul. Coach Kerr requested a review, but the decision was not changed. After these actions, Curry moved with obvious difficulty for the next few minutes.

During a timeout, with 35.2 seconds remaining and the Warriors losing by five points, Curry spoke with Rick Celebrini, the team’s chief medical officer, who indicated to the bench that Curry would not continue in the game. Both went to the locker room.

Curry’s injury comes at a complicated time for the Warriors, who after Wednesday’s defeat, have a 10-10 record after a promising start to the season with a 4-1 record. After the game, both Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green criticized the team’s defensive performance.
