Celtics Halt Pistons’ 13-Game Winning Streak in Thrilling NBA Finale

3 Min Read

In an exciting NBA matchup, the Boston Celtics, led by Jaylen Brown and Derrick White, managed to halt the winning streak of the Detroit Pistons, who were aiming to set a new record for consecutive victories. The game, which ended with a score of 117-114 in favor of the Celtics, saw the Pistons squander the opportunity to surpass their own franchise record, which they shared with the championship teams of the 1989-90 and 2003-04 seasons. Jaylen Brown was the key figure for the Celtics, scoring 33 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Derrick White, for his part, contributed 27 points, including 11 crucial ones in the final minutes of the game. Despite Cade Cunningham’s outstanding performance, who scored 42 points for the Pistons, the Celtics managed to prevail.

We understand it’s just a game, and we also understand that we didn’t play our best basketball. There were things we could have done better, and we still put ourselves in a position to have a chance at the end of the game. So you know, all these things add up. We’re still learning, and hopefully, you know, we won’t be as good now as we will be in April.

The end of the game was particularly intense. With Detroit losing by three points, Cunningham was fouled as he was about to shoot a three-pointer. After a review, the referees determined that he was in the act of shooting. Cunningham made the first two free throws, but missed the third. Payton Pritchard of Boston grabbed the rebound, was fouled, and made two free throws with 2.4 seconds left on the clock. Boston intercepted a pass before Detroit could attempt a three-pointer to tie the game.

We all wanted this tonight, we all wanted 14 wins. I’m not going to act like it didn’t mean anything to us. It’s a big deal, we all wanted to be on that side of history, but it didn’t happen.

Pritchard added 16 points to help the Celtics achieve their fifth win in six games. On Monday, Detroit had won in Indiana to tie the team’s record for consecutive wins.
