Christian Braun Secures His Future with the Nuggets with a Million-Dollar Extension

Denver Nuggets guard Christian Braun has agreed to a five-year, $125 million contract extension with the franchise, according to his agent, Bill Duffy of WME Basketball.

Braun, selected in the 21st position of the 2022 NBA draft, has proven to be a valuable player for the Nuggets.

The Nuggets’ management, led by Ben Tenzer and Jon Wallace, prioritized negotiating a new long-term agreement to secure Braun as a fundamental part of the team.

The team announced the signing of Braun’s new contract, but did not reveal the specific terms.

In the past season, Braun became a full-time starter, averaging 15.4 points per game, a significant increase from the 7.3 points in the 2023-24 season. In addition, he recorded 5.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and a 39.7% three-point shooting percentage per game in 79 games (77 as a starter). He was one of five players to average at least 15 points and five rebounds, with a 58% field goal percentage, and the only one who did not play in the center position.

The development of Braun as a guard is crucial to complement key figures like Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, and newcomer Cameron Johnson. Braun brings significant offensive ability in transition for the Nuggets, leading the NBA in fast break points last season. He became the first player with at least 400 fast break points in a season since Buddy Hield in 2018-19.

On the other hand, the Nuggets are not expected to reach a contract extension agreement with Peyton Watson before Monday’s deadline. Watson was the Nuggets’ number 30 pick in the 2022 draft.
