Christian Braun Secures His Future with the Nuggets

Denver Nuggets guard Christian Braun has reached an agreement to extend his rookie contract for five years and $125 million with the franchise. The news was confirmed by agent Bill Duffy of WME Basketball.

Braun, selected in the 21st position of the 2022 NBA draft, has become a key player for the team. The Nuggets’ management, led by Ben Tenzer and Jon Wallace, prioritized negotiating a new long-term agreement to ensure Braun’s continuity in the team’s core.

Although the team announced the signing of the new contract, the specific terms were not revealed.

Last season, Braun averaged 15.4 points, a significant increase from 7.3 points in the 2023-24 season. In addition, he recorded 5.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game, with 39.7% three-point shooting accuracy in 79 games (77 as a starter). He was one of five players to average at least 15 points and five rebounds, with 58% field goal accuracy, and the only one who did not play the center position.

The development of Braun as a guard is fundamental to complement figures like Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, and the newcomer Cameron Johnson. Braun brings important offense to the Nuggets, leading the NBA in total fast-break points last season. He became the first player with at least 400 fast-break points in a season since Buddy Hield in 2018-19.

On the other hand, the Nuggets are not expected to reach a rookie contract extension agreement with Peyton Watson before the deadline.
