Women’s Triumph at the First American Pink Pickleball Tournament

Santo Domingo – The first American Rosa Women’s Pickleball tournament, organized by the Dominican Pickleball Federation (Fedopickleball) under the coordination of Mirtha Marchena and Michelle Guillón, crowned its champions in three categories. In the Margarita category, Sofía López took first place, followed by Nathalie Duarte. In Lily, Christina Gieringer dominated the competition, while Orania Rodríguez and Antonia Ticona obtained second and third place, respectively. Nashaly Reyes Gómez was the winner in the Orchids category, surpassing Crisly Páez and Keilyn Domínguez. The event took place at the Pickleball Arena courts of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center. The president of Fedopickleball, licenciado Elvys Duarte, highlighted the importance of the tournament as a demonstration of the growth and popularity of the discipline in the Dominican Republic.

The tournament featured the participation of almost 50 female athletes, highlighting the growing interest and expansion of pickleball in the country. During the awards ceremony, the presence of Dominican athlete Lauren Hidalgo Smith was noted, who offered a clinic to the participants, sharing her experience and knowledge in this sport. Duarte highlighted the relevance of the event to identify new talents who could represent the country in future competitions. The president of Fedopickleball emphasized that more and more players are adopting pickleball as their favorite discipline, thanks to the opportunity to share and compete in an environment of harmony.
