Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Ordered to Pay Millions for Construction Debt

Santo Domingo – The Civil, Commercial, and Labor Chamber of the Court of First Instance of Peravia province issued a ruling that obliges the renowned Major League player, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., to pay RD$25,352,970 to the company Rose Art Deco, SRL. This condemnation is based on construction and design work carried out at the athlete’s vacation villa, located in Nizao. The ruling, identified with number 538-2025-SCIV-00604, was issued on September 18, 2025, and supports the lawsuit filed by the company Rose Art Deco, SRL, represented by its manager Rosa María de la Cruz, through its lawyers Manuel Olivero Rodríguez and Fernando Gutiérrez Figuereo. According to the legal action, Guerrero Jr. failed to make the agreed payment for the work performed, despite the fact that the company complied with what was stipulated in the construction and interior design project of the house.During the legal process, the player filed a criminal complaint against Rose Art Deco, SRL, arguing “paid work not performed.” However, the court of first instance dismissed any criminal liability of the company and its representatives, a decision that was later upheld by the Court of Appeals of San Cristóbal. The recent civil resolution validates the work done and demands that the Toronto Blue Jays player pay the full debt incurred for the services provided.

Company Reaction

Rosa María de la Cruz, the company’s manager, expressed her satisfaction with the ruling, highlighting that justice was served after several years of litigation.

Today I feel calm because the Court recognized that Mr. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. played with our work, sweat and effort, using the presentation of a criminal complaint as a mechanism to avoid paying us. We are relieved and now we hope that he will comply with the payment he owes us

Rosa María de la Cruz
The businesswoman thanked her legal team and believes that this decision sets an important precedent for the protection of the rights of small and medium-sized enterprises against contractual breaches.
