Antalya, Turkey. The Ukrainian team positioned itself favorably in the Davis Cup series this Friday, achieving victories in both singles matches against the Dominican Republic. With this result, they are one step away from advancing to World Group I.

In the first match of the day, Vladyslav Orlov demonstrated superiority against the Dominican Roberto Cid, defeating him with scores of 6-2 and 6-1. This early victory boosted the confidence of the Ukrainian team in the tie, which is being held in Turkey. Subsequently, in a match marked by intensity, Vyacheslav Bielinskyi defeated Peter Bertrán in a three-set match, with scores of 6-4, 4-6, and 7-6. Although Bertrán managed to take the match to a tiebreak after saving three match points, Bielinskyi reacted and secured the victory, establishing a 2-0 lead for Ukraine in the series. With this result, the Ukrainians lead the World Group II tie, moving closer to promotion to Group I, one of the most important instances in the tennis team competition. The action will continue this Saturday with the doubles match, scheduled for 4:00 AM, Dominican time. Ukraine will present Oleksii Krutykh and Oleksandr Ovcharenko, while the Dominican Republic will once again have Roberto Cid and Peter Bertrán. According to the Dominican captain, Jhonny Berrido, if the Dominican pair wins the doubles, the series will extend to Sunday, where Cid and Bertrán will play the remaining singles matches. The winning team will earn a spot in Group I of the Davis Cup World Group, a significant step forward for the international projection of any team.
