U.S. Bans Transgender Women from Competing in Women’s Olympic Sports
The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) has announced a new policy that prevents the participation of transgender women in Olympic women’s sports competitions. This decision aligns with the executive order issued in February by the President of the United States.
The change in the “Athlete Safety Policy” was confirmed this Tuesday by the USOPC, after being consulted about it.
The USOPC is committed to protecting opportunities for athletes participating in sports.
The updated USOPC regulations establish its commitment to safety and fairness in sports. In addition, the organization will continue to collaborate with entities such as the International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee, and national federations.
The objective of this collaboration is to ensure a fair and safe competitive environment for women, in compliance with Executive Order 14201 and the Ted Stevens Olympic and Amateur Sports Act.
