Mike Trout Returns to the Diamond: Reinforcement for the Angels
ANAHEIM, California – The wait is over for Angels fans. Mike Trout, the team’s star, is ready to return to the field.According to sources close to the situation, Trout will be activated from the 10-day injured list this Friday, just in time for the start of the series against the Guardians in Cleveland. To make room on the roster, Matthew Lugo was sent to Triple-A Salt Lake this Thursday.
Trout was placed on the injured list on May 2nd (retroactive to May 1st) due to a bone contusion in his left knee, an injury that had already required two previous surgeries. The injury occurred on April 30th, when Trout stepped incorrectly on first base at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
During his recovery process, the star outfielder resumed light running activities on Tuesday and faced live pitching on Wednesday, successfully completing the necessary steps for his return after missing 27 consecutive games.
Before the injury, Trout was batting .179 with an OPS of .727. Despite this, he demonstrated his power with nine home runs in just 29 games.
Trout’s return represents a significant boost, both emotionally and offensively, for an Angels team that has suffered five consecutive losses after an eight-game winning streak. He joins a lineup led by Zach Neto and Logan O’Hoppe, looking to revitalize the team.
The Angels enter Friday with a record of 25-30, placing them in fourth position in the American League West Division.
