Inglewood, California – Dominican standout center Karl-Anthony Towns once again raised the name of the Dominican Republic by participating in the 2026 NBA All-Star Game, held at the Intuit Dome, the home of the Los Angeles Clippers. Towns, a key figure in the team and former Three-Point Contest champion, earned his sixth All-Star Game selection, solidifying himself as one of the greatest exponents of Dominican basketball in the NBA.
It’s special. As I said, I am honored to be in this position to show the next generation that it is possible. To show them where we have had success and also mistakes, so they don’t make the same ones. To take the game, the flag, and the country to heights we couldn’t even imagine. During the event, Towns highlighted the importance of representing his country on a stage of such magnitude. The 2026 All-Star presented a new format, with the United States against the World, dividing the players into two teams: the United States and a World Team, competing in a mini-tournament with 12-minute matches. At least eight players participated in each team, bringing together the brightest stars of world basketball. In the USA Stripes team, the presence of LeBron James, star of the Los Angeles Lakers, stood out, who reached his twenty-second consecutive selection to the All-Star Game. Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant were also part of the show. Beyond the results on the court, Karl-Anthony Towns’ participation reinforces the growth of Dominican basketball and its impact on the NBA. With his leadership, talent, and pride in his roots, the center continues to carry the flag of the Dominican Republic worldwide.
