Titanes del Sur Defeat Cañeros del Este in the LNB Super League

SAN CRISTÓBAL – Xavier Reyes and Romeao Ferguson led the South Titans’ attack in the final quarter, securing an 87-74 victory over the Cañeros del Este. The match took place in the sports complex of San Cristóbal, within the framework of the Super Liga LNB, in its edition for the Copa Banreservas. Reyes, with 12 crucial points in the last 10 minutes, finished the game with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Ferguson, for his part, contributed 22 points and 5 assists. Jonathan Araújo also had an outstanding performance, achieving a double-double with 13 units and 14 rebounds. With this victory, the Titans improve their record to 5-7, while the Caneros stand at 6-8, both teams in the fight to secure a place in the elimination phase. For the Cañeros, Yeison Colomé was the most outstanding player with 18 points and 5 assists, followed by Lazar Lugic and Eusebio Suero, who scored 14 points each. The team struggled with three-pointers, recording a 17 percent effectiveness (6/35). The Titans imposed their defense in the second quarter to take control of the game. Although the Cañeros tried to react, the Titans maintained the lead and went to halftime with a 9-point difference (50-41). In the first half, the San Cristóbal team had a 46 percent field goal percentage (17 of 37) and a perfect 12 of 12 from the free throw line. Jonathan Araújo led the offense with 11 points and 5 rebounds, while Romeao Ferguson and Isaiah Rivera added 10 points each. Lazar Lugic led the Cañeros’ attack with 14 units, followed by Marvin Smith Jr. with 7 and Eusebio Suero with 6 in the first half, where the team had a 50 percent field goal percentage. Despite Colomé’s 7 points that brought the Cañeros closer, the locals maintained the lead by 7 (63-56) in the third quarter, where they suffered 10 turnovers. The Titans secured their dominance in the final quarter with three-pointers from Ferguson and Reyes, extending the lead to 14 points (74-60) with 5:04 remaining. A three-pointer from Colomé in the final seconds was not enough to change the course of the game.
