Pivetta and Tatis Jr. Shine in Padres’ Victory Over the Diamondbacks
Phoenix – The San Diego Padres achieved a resounding 8-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks this Sunday, ending a three-game losing streak. The triumph came thanks to an outstanding performance by pitcher Nick Pivetta and an offense led by Fernando Tatis Jr.
Pivetta threw a true gem from the mound, working for seven innings and dominating Arizona’s offense. He only allowed two hits and one walk, while striking out nine batters. The right-hander retired the first twelve batters he faced, demonstrating crucial solidity for the Padres’ rotation.
San Diego’s offense responded strongly to Pivetta’s performance. Fernando Tatis Jr. had a stellar day with four hits, three runs scored, and a stolen base. Venezuelan Elias Díaz also stood out by hitting 4-2, with two runs scored and one RBI. Jake Cronenworth contributed with a home run and Manny Machado drove in two runs, contributing to the team’s collective production.
Luis Arráez hit a double in the fifth inning, driving in a key run that helped the Padres pull away in the score. The Venezuelan infielder finished the game with one hit in five at-bats, driving in one run.
Arizona’s opener, Merrill Kelly, worked five innings, allowing seven hits and four runs, but managed seven strikeouts. The Diamondbacks saw a five-game winning streak snapped and finished their home stand with a 5-1 record.
The only two runs for Arizona came in the eighth inning, against reliever Anthony DeSclafani. Eugenio Suárez was the most outstanding player for the home team, hitting a single in three at-bats, with one run scored and two RBIs.
With this victory, the Padres seek to consolidate their position in the National League West Division.
Fernando is having some fun.
