Storm Impacts Junior Pan American Games ASU2025 in Asunción

A strong storm with torrential rains has forced the rescheduling of several sports disciplines of the Junior Pan American Games ASU2025, which are being held in Asunción, Paraguay.

Golf, athletics, water skiing, hockey, and beach volleyball competitions were affected by the heavy rainfall and the saturation of the sports venues.

The storm has caused floods, falling trees and material damage in downtown Asunción and in nearby towns such as Luque, Fernando de la Mora and Lambaré.

The Meteorology Department has extended the storm alert, warning that the bad weather will affect ten departments of the country, including Central, San Pedro, Caaguazú, Caazapá, Itapúa, Misiones, Paraguarí, Ñeembucú and Presidente Hayes.

The Games’ organizing committee is working on logistical adjustments to maintain the schedule and ensure the safety of athletes, officials, and the public.

The Junior Pan American Games ASU2025, which bring together thousands of young athletes from across the continent, are taking place amidst a climate that challenges both sports planning and the response capacity of the Paraguayan authorities.
