Sammy Sosa: The Triumphant Return to Wrigley Field

Chicago – Chicago Cubs legend Sammy Sosa made an emotional return to Wrigley Field, his home for many years. The iconic former outfielder was greeted with a deafening ovation from the fans, who celebrated his legacy in the franchise. The long-awaited return of Sosa, after an absence that spanned more than two decades, generated great expectation among the team’s followers. Before the start of the third inning, a tribute video was shown that reviewed the most outstanding moments of Sosa’s career with the Cubs. The fans, visibly moved, stood up and applauded for several minutes, showing their affection and respect. After the screening, Sosa appeared in a VIP suite to thank those present.

Seeing Sosa again with these colors was very special. Obviously, we miss that player who gave us so much.

With 56 years old, Sosa left an indelible mark on the history of the Cubs. During his 13 seasons (1992–2004), he hit 545 home runs, averaging .285 batting, 45 home runs, and 116 RBIs per season. His performance earned him the MVP award of the National League in 1998, he participated in seven All-Star Games and won six Silver Slugger Awards. Sammy Sosa’s return to Wrigley Field marked the closing of an important cycle. His departure in 2004 had left a wound that began to heal with his apology letter in 2024 and his subsequent invitation to the 2025 fan fest.

Today we close a very important cycle. Sammy will always be part of the Cubs family.
