On this occasion, Dominican Miguel Sime Jr., 18 years old, grabbed attention by reaching impressive speeds on the mound during the Spring Breakout. The Washington Nationals prospect starred in one of the most outstanding moments of the game by facing JJ Wetherholt, considered one of the most promising talents in baseball. In a full count, Sime threw a 100.8 mph fastball, causing a missed swing that even dislodged the batter’s helmet. Despite starting the inning with a 3-0 disadvantage, the young pitcher demonstrated composure and reaction ability, combining his repertoire with effective sliders before finishing with his powerful fastball. Sime’s dominance was not by chance. Of the 21 pitches he threw in the game, nine exceeded 100 mph, solidifying his position as one of the most exciting prospects in minor league pitching. Selected in the fourth round of the 2025 Draft, the Dominican-born pitcher has shown a rapid evolution, driven by his work ethic and consistency in developing his skills.
