Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is Crowned NBA MVP

Oklahoma City – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the undisputed star of the Oklahoma City Thunder, has been awarded the prestigious NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the first time in his career.

The official announcement will be made tonight, marking a milestone in the career of this talented player.

This recognition comes after an exceptional season in which Gilgeous-Alexander led his team to an outstanding victory in Game 7 against the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semifinals.

At just 26 years old, Gilgeous-Alexander not only claimed the title of top scorer of the season, but was also the fundamental pillar of a team that achieved an impressive record of 68 victories, the most in the league, and set a new historical record in the average point differential per game (+12.9).

During the season, the player averaged 32.7 points, 6.4 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 1.0 blocks, with an amazing 51.9% field goal percentage. His numbers place him in a similar position to Michael Jordan in seasons where he was also recognized as MVP.

Gilgeous-Alexander becomes the third player in Thunder history to obtain this coveted award, following in the footsteps of Kevin Durant (2014) and Russell Westbrook (2017).

Despite Nikola Jokic’s outstanding performance, Gilgeous-Alexander’s overall impact, including his defensive contribution with 208 steals and blocks, tipped the scales in his favor.

His performance has generated great expectation for the future. Already qualified for an unprecedented supermax extension of 4 years and 294 million dollars, Shai could sign the contract with the highest annual value in NBA history (73.3 million per season).
