Rodríguez Mella’s management has implemented an ambitious plan for the rescue, promotion, and development of school baseball, which includes the delivery of equipment, technical training, and the construction or renovation of school stadiums. Some of these stadiums have been used for the National School Games. Among the sports venues intervened by INEFI are the Nadin Hazoury stadium in Barahona, the play of the Oratorio María Auxiliadora (OMA) in the National District, and the stadium of the Víctor Garrido Puello High School, among others. In addition, the construction of three new school stadiums in Santo Domingo Este, Puerto Plata and San Pedro de Macorís was announced, as part of the support of the government of President Luis Abinader for this initiative. Boras’ support joins the interest shown by the MLB Commissioner’s Office and organizations like the New York Yankees, who have held meetings with INEFI to explore alliances for the benefit of formative baseball. Figures like Alex Rodríguez, Robinson Canó, Michael Martínez, Amaury Telemaco, Daniel Cabrera, and Napoleón Calzado have also expressed their support for the project, consolidating a network of institutional and personal backing that strengthens the present and future of Dominican school baseball.
