In an exciting display of athletic talent, school district 08-06, representing Santiago Noreste, emerged as the champion of the Regional School Table Tennis Festival in the U13 and U15 categories. This event, organized by the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI) in collaboration with the regional directorates and the Dominican Table Tennis Federation (Fedoteme), left an indelible mark on the school sports arena.
The sports center of the José Francisco Peña Gómez Educational Center, located in Pueblo Nuevo, Santiago, was the setting for this competition. The facility, recently inaugurated by INEFI, hosted 280 athletes from various regions of the province, who demonstrated their skill and passion for table tennis.
The Santiago Noreste team demonstrated its superiority by accumulating a total of 2,150 points, surpassing regional 08-08 (Licey al Medio), which obtained 2,120 points. Regional 08-02 (Jánico) positioned itself in third place with 630 points, completing the podium of this close competition.
The outcome of the event is extraordinary, and it is all due to the joint work of the Dominican Table Tennis Federation and the National Institute of Physical Education.

The president of the Santiago Table Tennis Association highlighted the excitement of the event and the progress of the students, foreseeing a promising future for Dominican table tennis.
It was a weekend full of emotions due to the large number of students who participated in this regional festival. Each of them showed significant progress in this sport, which opens the possibility that in the future they can represent the country in international competitions.

The regional offices 08-10 (Villa González), 08-03 (Santiago Sureste), 08-07 (Villa Bisonó-Navarrete), 08-09 (Tamboril), 08-04 (Santiago Noroeste) and 08-05 (Santiago Centro-Oeste) also participated in the event.
The main objective of this festival is to promote school table tennis in the Dominican Republic, fostering sports development from the formative stages.
The second stage of the Regional Table Tennis Festival will take place from May 29 to 31 at the covered area of the Profesor Alberto Byas Sports Excellence Educational Center, in San Pedro de Macorís., regional 05
Champions by categories
In the U13 girls’ singles category, Franyelis Rojas (08-02) conquered first place, followed by Shaina Polanco (08-06). Third place was shared by Esteisy Hernández (08-06) and Leandra Hernández (08-06).
In the U13 male category, the winners were Ángel Domínguez (08-08), Juan Bautista (08-06), Elián Álvarez (08-02) and Liam Pérez (08-06).
In the U15 female category, Dixsany Silverio (08-06), Violet Jiménez (08-06), Eliana Martínez (08-08) and Mia Ipia (08-08) stood out. In the male category, the best were Brayan Pérez (08-10), Carelson Ureña (08-08), Virgil Álvarez (08-08) and Riquelmi Rosario (08-03).
In U13 girls’ doubles, Steisy and Leandra Hernández (08-06) took first place, while in the boys’ category, the champions were Ángel Domínguez and Juan Bautista (08-08).
In U15 women’s doubles, first place went to Dixsany Silverio and Violet Jiménez (08-06), while in the men’s category, the duo Carelson Ureña and Virgil Álvarez (08-06) were crowned champions.
In U13 mixed doubles, the duo of Dixsany Silverio and Carelson Ureña (08-06) took the title, while in U15 mixed doubles the winners were Ángel Domínguez and Franyelis Rojas (08-08).
In the U15 male team competition, the Villa González team (08-10) took first place. In the U15 female category, Santiago Noreste (08-06) was crowned champion. In the U13 male category, the title went to Licey al Medio (08-08), while in the U13 female category, the Santiago Noreste team (08-06) stood out as the best.
With this triumph, Santiago Noreste reaffirms his leadership in school table tennis, standing out in an event that seeks to strengthen youth sports development in the region.
