Sano and Sánchez Take Home Weekly MVP Honors in LIDOM
SANTO DOMINGO – The outstanding players Miguel Ángel Sanó, from the Estrellas Orientales, and Aaron Sánchez, from the Toros del Este, have been recognized as the most valuable players in the first edition of the MVP of the Week Award of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), corresponding to the period from October 15 to 20, 2025.
This prestigious award, presented by Ron Ozama, distinguishes weekly the most outstanding players of the autumn-winter tournament. The selection is based on the vote of sports communicators who cover the league throughout the country.Sanó Dominates Voting Among Position Players
In the voting for position players, Miguel Ángel Sanó led with 63 votes, representing 47% of the 134 voters. He surpassed Aderlin Rodríguez, from the Águilas Cibaeñas, who obtained 32 votes (23.9%), and rookie Felnin Celesté, from the Toros del Este, with 20 votes (14%).
Other players who also received support in the vote were Josh Lester (Estrellas), Bryant Torres and Mikey Gasper (Toros).
During the evaluated week, Sanó participated in five games, connecting six hits in 19 at-bats. Among his achievements, two home runs and eight RBIs stand out, achieving a batting average of .316, OBP .409, slugging .684 and an OPS of 1.093. The Estrellas Orientales recorded a 4-1 record in this period.Sánchez Prevails Among the Pitchers
In the category of pitchers, Aaron Sánchez was chosen decisively with 75 votes, which is equivalent to 56.8% of the 132 possible. He surpassed Grant Gavin, starting pitcher for the Leones del Escogido, who obtained 42 votes (31.8%).
Sánchez had an outstanding performance in his only appearance of the week, pitching five complete innings, allowing only one hit, with seven strikeouts and no walks, maintaining his perfect 0.00 ERA.
In the voting, Enny Romero (Estrellas Orientales) and Charlie Barnes (Águilas Cibaeñas) also participated, both with four votes (3%). Other pitchers considered were Esmil Rogers (Estrellas), César Valdez (Licey), and Jake Faria (Gigantes del Cibao).
