San Cristóbal Crowned Champion in the National Women’s Children’s Volleyball Tournament
Santo Domingo – In a vibrant final held in the multipurpose hall of Hermanas Mirabal province, San Cristóbal won the title of the National Women’s Infantil Volleyball Tournament, after defeating Distrito Nacional with a score of 2-1.
The exciting match, which kept the spectators on the edge of their seats, culminated with partial scores of 25-18, 22-25 and 15-12, demonstrating the intensity and balance in the game of both teams.
San Cristóbal players, Leandry Almonte and Yomarlin Heredia, were key to the victory, contributing 13 and 9 points respectively. For the Distrito Nacional, Cristal Morla and Yenefer Polanco stood out with 10 and 8 points.
The Coopesa Cup, awarded by the Cooperativa de Servicios Múltiples de Salcedo, was presented to the champion team by the governor of Hermanas Mirabal province and president of the organizing committee, Lissette Nicasio de Adames.
Santiago Takes Bronze in a Heart-Stopping Match
In a previous duel for third place, Santiago defeated La Vega with a score of 2-1 (22-25, 25-22, 15-13). Esther Rondón led Santiago’s attack with 15 points, while Ashley Almengó, from La Vega, was the most outstanding player of the match with 18 points.
Individual Recognitions
The awards ceremony recognized the individual talent of the most outstanding athletes of the tournament. Leandry Almonte Arias, from San Cristobal, was named Most Valuable Player.

- Best Coach: Ramón Serrano (San Cristóbal)
The teams from the provinces of Hermanas Mirabal, La Romana, Monte Plata, San Juan, Pedernales, María Trinidad Sánchez, Monseñor Nouel, and Santiago Rodríguez also participated in the tournament.
