Roig Arena: A New Sporting and Entertainment Milestone in Valencia

The Roig Arena, the innovative multipurpose venue driven by businessman Juan Roig, opens its doors this week in Valencia, marking a before and after in the city’s sports and entertainment scene. With an investment of 400 million euros, of which 365 million were allocated to the construction of the building, the Roig Arena promises to be an epicenter of first-class events. It is estimated that more than a million people will attend concerts, corporate events, and Valencia Basket games during its first year of operation. Víctor Sendra, general director of the Roig Arena, highlighted the importance of this project for the city: “We estimate that more than a million people will come here in the first year. That supports the power of València, not only of the Roig Arena, as a sector and as a city.”

The Roig Arena aims to be in the elite of the great venues in Europe and worldwide.

The official inauguration, which will take place this Saturday, will feature a tribute concert to Nino Bravo, in which about twenty artists will participate. An annual economic impact of 150 million euros and the creation of about five hundred direct jobs are expected. Of these, around one hundred will be part of the organization, while the rest will be incorporated according to the needs of each event. Sendra emphasized that the Arena represents “Juan Roig’s effort for society” and is “a city project”. The venue will seek sustainability, with income coming mainly from rentals, sponsors, and restaurants. The project consists of four key elements: the Les Arts public school, a public car park, an outdoor park, and the venue itself. The total investment, funded by Juan Roig, reflects his commitment to the city. Sendra highlighted the investment in technology and acoustics, with the aim of offering a high-quality experience for attendees. The increase in the budget is justified by the need to improve soundproofing and technology, in addition to prioritizing user comfort. The general director thanked the collaboration of the neighbors and the work of the five thousand workers involved in the construction. The Roig Arena will be able to accommodate 15,600 spectators in basketball mode, 18,600 in concert mode, and up to 20,000 with the stage in the center of the court. In addition, it will have an auditorium for more intimate events. Currently, 57 events have tickets on sale, with the expectation of exceeding 80 events in the first year. The sale of 600,000 tickets is estimated in this period. The Roig Arena will also boost the arrival of major tours to Spain, collaborating with promoters and local concert halls. For the first year, seventy corporate events have been scheduled, demonstrating the versatility of the venue. The restaurants, with three top-level restaurants, will offer a quality gastronomic experience, with a strong Valencian influence. Sendra expressed his gratitude to the entire Roig Arena team and the Roig family, highlighting that without their support this project would not be possible. The Roig Arena begins its journey with great expectation and promises to be a benchmark in the sports and entertainment scene.
