Regional Baseball Clinic Gathers Young Talents in Baní
The Municipal Stadium of Baní, in the province of Peravia, was the epicenter of an outstanding regional baseball clinic aimed at children aged 8 to 10 years old. This training event, which brought together 230 young prospects, was attended by children from various provinces of the country. The initiative, organized by the Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOM), the management of the Dominican team heading to the World Baseball Classic, and Major League Baseball (MLB), is part of a community outreach and sports legacy program. The main objective is to positively impact new generations, transmitting essential values, fostering discipline, and teaching the fundamentals of the game. The clinic, which took place at the Luis María Herrera stadium, was attended by important figures from the sport, leaders, and baseball legends. These experts shared their experiences and knowledge with the young players of the region. During the day, the children participated in various technical stations, game dynamics, and an exciting Home Run Derby, creating an environment conducive to learning, motivation, and healthy coexistence. The event was attended by Juan Núñez, president of the Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOBE); Kelvin Cruz, Minister of Sports; Nelson Cruz, general manager of the Dominican team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Miguel Matos, director of the MLB office in the Dominican Republic and Henry González, director of International Operations for MLB.The initiative was supported by prominent Banilejo baseball players such as Rafael Landestoy, Miguel Tejada, and Cristian Guzmán. Also present were Vitelio Mejía Ortiz, president of LIDOM; Luis Mejía Oviedo, president of Centro Caribe Sports, and José Monegro, president of the Organizing Committee of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, along with the official mascot Colí. The upcoming regional clinics will be held on the following dates and locations:“With this activity we fulfill one of the purposes of our federation,” said Nuñez. “I thank all the coaches and presidents of associations in the region for responding to this call.”
