The Queens of the East Crowned LNBF Champions for the Third Time

Santo Domingo, DR. Las Reinas del Este, representing Hato Mayor, have secured their third championship title in the Women’s National Basketball League (LNBF) by defeating Las Murallas de San Lázaro in the final series.

The decisive triumph, with a score of 85-74, was achieved on Saturday in the third game of the series, securing the victory for the Queens with a resounding 3-0.

The final, which was held at the Héctor -El Vikingo- Monegro sports complex in Hato Mayor, was scheduled for a maximum of five games, but the Queens demonstrated their dominance from the start. The BanReservas Don Máximo Bernard Cup was the trophy awarded to the champions.

The LNBF and the Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal), led by Fernando Teruel and Rafael Uribe, were the organizers of this sporting event dedicated to Vice President Raquel Peña.

This is the fourth consecutive final for the Queens. In 2021, they lost to the Walls, but they recovered with victories in 2022 against the Southern Indians and now in 2024 against the Walls.

Since the creation of the LNBF, eight championships have been held. The 2020 and 2023 tournaments were suspended due to the pandemic and adjustments to the calendar.

Las Murallas have won three titles, while Las Olímpicas de La Vega have two.

Regarding individual performance, Jennifer Jiménez led the Queens’ offense with 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Angie Hodge contributed 17 points and eight rebounds, Fátima Marte added 15 points and seven rebounds, and A Lexxus Faith Davis contributed 14 points.

By Las Murallas, Carola Hernández scored 17 points, Yamel Abreu 12 points and four assists, Dallysshya Moreno 11 points, Madeline Batista eight, and Paola Maldonado seven.
