Miami, Florida – Albert Pujols, manager of the Dominican Republic Baseball Team, has made it clear that, despite the impressive 12-1 knockout victory over the Netherlands Baseball Team, the team keeps its sights set on its main goal: winning the 2026 World Baseball Classic. After the resounding triumph at LoanDepot Park, Pujols emphasized the collective performance of the Dominican team, both in offense and defense, but reiterated that the tournament is still in its early stages.

In the end, it’s another game. Truly, nothing has been achieved here yet. Our goal is to try to win the championship.

Pujols praised the discipline and commitment shown by the team throughout the tournament, highlighting the players’ concentration on executing every aspect of the game effectively.

The guys have done a tremendous job. They’re arriving early, doing their routine, and playing the baseball we need to win.

When questioned about his apparent serenity during the match, even when the score was favorably leaning towards the Dominicans, the leader explained that he prefers to remain calm and respectful towards the opponent until the game is completely decided.

It’s very difficult for you to see many emotions from me. You have to respect the opposing team, because many things can happen until the goal of winning the game is achieved. Pujols concluded by stating that his approach as a manager remains the same as he maintained throughout his career as a professional player.

That’s how I prepared myself for 23 years as a professional and I still do it today as a manager. Of course I am happy to represent my country, but at the same time I am focused on our goal of winning the tournament.
