Polanco gives epic triumph to Indios over Metros in LNB overtime

San Francisco de Macorís – Eddy Polanco had a memorable debut this Wednesday, sealing the victory for the Indios de San Francisco de Macorís with a crucial triple in overtime. The final score was 108-105 against the Metros de Santiago, in a vibrant match of the National Basketball League (LNB), held at the Polideportivo Mario Ortega.

Polanco and Luismal Ferreira led the Indians’ offense, both with 20 points. Polanco also added four rebounds and three assists, while Ferreira achieved 17 rebounds and three assists. Luís Rodríguez was the team’s top scorer with 23 points, complemented by five assists and two rebounds. Kam’ron Blue contributed 14 points, three rebounds and three assists; Edgar Sosa added 13 points, seven assists and six rebounds, and CJ Gettys closed with 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

For the Metros, Juan Guerrero stood out with 24 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Jhery Matos contributed 18 points, five assists, and four rebounds. Brandone Francis and Terrell Holloway scored 16 points each; Francis added four rebounds and three assists, while Holloway dished out eight assists and three rebounds. Jordán Gerónimo also contributed 15 points and five rebounds.

Match Development

The Metros started strong, with a 13-2 run that allowed them to dominate the first quarter 27-17, thanks to the offense of Francis and Matos, who scored eight points each.

In the second quarter, the Indians reacted and won the partial 30-18, achieving a 47-45 lead at halftime. Francis led the Metros with 12 points in the first half, followed by Matos and Holloway with 10 each. For the Indians, Polanco scored 10 points, and Sosa and Gettys added eight points.

In the third quarter, the Indios started with a 9-2 run that put them up by nine (56-47). However, the Metros responded with a 10-0 streak, tying the score at 65 with 1:38 remaining in the period, which ended 22-21 in favor of Santiago. The last quarter was also for the Metros by the minimum (22-21), which forced overtime after tying the score at 89.

In overtime, the Indians prevailed 19-16, achieving their third victory of the season (3-2), while the Metros saw their four-game winning streak snapped and put their record at 4-2.
