SANTIAGO – Dominican shortstop Geraldo Perdomo, along with several players from the Águilas Cibaeñas, starred in an exemplary gesture of responsibility and respect at the Cibao Stadium.
Following a referee’s decision that generated controversy and caused some fans to throw objects onto the field, Perdomo and his teammates took an initiative that was applauded by all.
Cleaning and Respect Action
The situation was triggered when the referees called a play for obstruction, which generated a negative reaction in a part of the public. Bottles, glasses, and other objects flew onto the field, forcing the temporary suspension of the match.
Instead of standing aside, Perdomo and his colleagues opted for a positive intervention. They dedicated themselves to collecting the waste that was scattered around the area, thus contributing to restoring order.
This gesture was interpreted as a demonstration of sportsmanship, leadership, and social awareness, highlighting the players’ commitment to the values promoted by Dominican professional baseball.
