Baltimore Orioles Add Marco Luciano and Designate Jhonkensy Noel

The Baltimore Orioles have made significant moves to their roster, claiming Dominican outfielder Marco Luciano from the Pittsburgh Pirates’ waiver list, as announced by the club this Wednesday. Simultaneously, they designated Jhonkensy Noel for assignment. Marco Luciano, who was highly regarded as a prospect during his time with the San Francisco Giants, has experience in the Major Leagues, having participated in 41 games during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. In those games, Luciano maintained a batting average of .286, connecting 25 hits in 115 at-bats, and a slugging percentage of .590. Although he belonged to the Pirates organization last season, he did not play in the Major Leagues. In Triple-A, Luciano participated in 125 games, where he batted .214, with 23 home runs, 66 RBIs, and an on-base percentage of .335. Jhonkensy Noel, for his part, had been acquired by Baltimore from waivers last Monday, coming from the Cleveland Guardians. In the 2025 season, the right fielder played 67 games, recording a .218 average, with 13 home runs, 28 RBIs, and an OPS of .774. These moves reflect the Orioles’ ongoing evaluation and adjustment of the roster as they prepare for the upcoming season, considering both short-term and medium-term options.
