Moca FC close to the Liguilla 2025 after defeating Atlántico FC
Moca, Dominican Republic – Moca FC is nearing qualification for the 2025 Liguilla of the Dominican Republic Football League (LDF) after a crucial 1-0 victory over Atlántico FC at the Moca 85 stadium.
The aurinegro team demonstrated precise and dominant play, which allowed them to add three vital points in this final stage of the regular season.
With this victory, Moca FC adds 24 points, remaining only one unit away from securing their spot in the playoffs.
The winning goal came in the 34th minute, from the penalty spot, thanks to the effective execution of the Argentinian Gustavo Ascona.
The team led by Jorge Alfonso controlled the match from the start, imposing their rhythm with intensity and rapid transitions.
In the second half, Moca FC generated several opportunities to extend the lead.
Johnny Parima hit the post with a shot in the 54th minute, and Sergio Ventura sent a powerful shot in the 58th minute that went over the goal.
Valentín Sabela also came close to scoring with a shot that hit the post in the 72nd minute.
Atlántico FC suffered the expulsion of Manaury González at minute 82, after a foul on Sabela, who was about to face the opposing goalkeeper.
Sabela continued to be a constant threat, forcing the Atlántico FC goalkeeper to make a spectacular save in the 89th minute.
