Moca FC close to the Liguilla 2025 after defeating Atlántico FC
Moca FC is approaching qualification for the 2025 Liguilla of the Dominican Republic Football League (LDF) after a crucial 1-0 victory over Atlántico FC at the Moca 85 stadium. The aurinegro team demonstrated a solid and dominant game, getting closer to securing their place in the next phase of the tournament.
With this victory, Moca FC adds 24 points, being only one unit away from mathematically securing their ticket to the Liguilla.
The goal that sealed the victory came in the 34th minute, courtesy of the Argentinian Gustavo Ascona, who converted a penalty with precision. This goal proved decisive in adding three vital points in this final stage of the regular season.
From the start, Moca FC, under the direction of Jorge Alfonso, controlled the match. The team imposed its rhythm with intensity, high pressure, and rapid transitions, which allowed them to dominate the encounter.
In the second half, Moca FC came close to extending their lead. Johnny Parima hit the post with a shot in the 54th minute, and Sergio Ventura sent a powerful shot that went over the goal in the 58th minute. Atlántico FC suffered an expulsion in the 82nd minute, when Manaury González received a red card for a foul that prevented a clear scoring opportunity for Sabela.
Sabela continued to be a constant threat to the defense of Atlántico FC, forcing the opposing goalkeeper to make a spectacular save in the 89th minute to prevent the second goal.
