Miguel Guerra, new president of Club Atlético Licey

Club Atlético Licey has announced Miguel Guerra Armenteros as its new president, after being unanimously elected by the team’s board of directors. The news was communicated through an official statement this Tuesday.

It is an honor for me to assume the presidency of this glorious organization that has shone for 120 years. I want to express my most sincere gratitude to each of you: players, office staff, employees and, of course, our loyal fans, for your unwavering dedication and passion. Your commitment has been fundamental in building the rich history and legacy of our team.

Miguel Guerra Armenteros

Guerra Armenteros, a graduate in Economics and Political Science with studies at the University of Pennsylvania, succeeds Dr. Ricardo Ravelo Jana. In Ravelo Jana’s last two terms, Guerra served as vice president, being a key part in obtaining the team’s 23rd and 24th championships.

We look to the future with hope and determination. We are going to work together to continue reaping triumphs and historical feats. This club has a rich tradition and a bright future ahead.

Miguel Guerra Armenteros

Currently, Guerra serves as the general director of natural gas in the Dominican Republic. His career with the Tigres del Licey spans three decades, beginning in the 1994-1995 season.

Together, we will face new challenges and continue to strive for excellence in every season. We are excited about the future and confident that, united, we will take the Tigres del Licey to new heights.

Miguel Guerra Armenteros

Guerra Armenteros is married to Yadina Vásquez de Guerra and has three children: Ignacio Guerra Vásquez, Ivette Cristina Guerra Vásquez, and Michelle Marie Guerra Vásquez. The last two were champion godmothers in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.

It is important to note that Guerra is the first grandson of a former president of the Tigres del Licey to reach the presidency. His grandfather, engineer Ignacio Guerra Abreu, was president in the periods 1953-54 and 1955-57.

Upon learning of his choice, Guerra recalled his connection to Licey since childhood, even showing his uniform from when he was three years old and declaring that “this is a day of rejoicing”.

Under his previous mandate (2013-15), Licey achieved its 21st championship in the 2013-14 season. Now, it will seek to continue the team’s winning tradition, which holds the record for the most championships in the history of Caribbean baseball, with 24 national titles and 11 Caribbean Series.

The new board of directors of Licey will be made up of:
  • Doctor Domingo Pichardo, vice president.
  • Miguel Ángel Fernández, treasurer.
  • Engineer Jaime Alsina, secretary.
  • Doctor Ricardo Ravelo Jana, director.
  • Rafael Antonio Úbeda Heded, director.
  • Engineer Tancredo Aybar, director.
  • Federico González Santoni, director.
