SANTO DOMINGO, RD. – The Mauricio Báez club is in an advantageous position against San Carlos after obtaining its third consecutive victory, with a final score of 89-77. The match took place this Sunday at the Ricardo Gioriber Arias Volleyball Palace, corresponding to the fourth game of the TBS Distrito 2025 final series. With this triumph, the current two-time champions take a 3-1 lead in the series, which is played to the best of seven games, being one step away from achieving their eleventh title in the history of the superior basketball of the National District. Mauricio Báez and San Carlos currently share the historical leadership with 10 championships each. The Villa Juana team, champion in 2023 and 2024, is on the verge of achieving a three-peat under the direction of Melvyn López, who would add eight crowns in the TBS Distrito, an unprecedented record. If the title is achieved, it would be the second time that Mauricio Báez reaches three consecutive championships, a feat he already achieved between 1984 and 1987. Luismal Ferreiras, reinforcement from the province of La Vega, known as “La Bestia del Jaya”, repeated his outstanding performance from Saturday, achieving his second consecutive double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Gerardo Suero contributed 19 points, Richard Bautista added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists, and Juan Miguel Suero scored 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
