Revelatory Statements in the Trial for Maradona’s Death

Buenos Aires – In the context of the trial investigating the death of Diego Armando Maradona, the director of the clinic where the Argentine star underwent surgery has made significant statements.

Pablo Dimitroff, director of the Olivos Clinic, testified before the court about the conditions in which Maradona was after the surgical intervention he underwent.

Dimitroff revealed that the footballer, after being operated on for a hematoma in the head, was demanding alcohol and his behavior was hindering his care. These circumstances, according to the director, discouraged a subsequent recovery in a home environment.

Neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, one of the health professionals on trial in this case, requested a place at the clinic for Maradona’s operation in November 2020.

Luque was Maradona’s personal physician when the former soccer player died on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60, due to cardiac arrest.

The prosecution maintains that Luque and other professionals did not provide Maradona with adequate medical care during his home hospitalization, which would have contributed to his death. The accused could face up to 25 years in prison.
