Manchester City Sacks Waiter for Wearing Manchester United Shirt
London – Manchester City has taken drastic measures following an incident at the Etihad Stadium. A waiter was fired for wearing a Manchester United shirt while working. The situation became public when a person shared an image of the employee serving drinks during last Sunday’s derby. In this match, the ‘Sky Blues’ won with a score of 3-0, thanks to goals from Erling Haaland and Phil Foden. The club responded quickly to the image’s virality, confirming on social media that the waiter had been fired from his position. This case has generated debate about the position of teams regarding their employees’ affiliation with other clubs, and the limits thereof. Last week, a judge specializing in labor matters in Croydon (London) suggested during a trial that a company can reject a worker who is a “fervent” Tottenham Hotspur fan if the office in which they were to work was “full of Arsenal fans”.“There are times when a company can legally decide that someone will not fit in well with the team and that therefore it will be difficult to work together. An example could be a small office where everyone who works there is a fervent Arsenal fan and the company decides to opt for an Arsenal fan over a Tottenham fan with similar skills because it does not want to break the harmony of the office,” said Judge Daniel Wright.
