Mahomes Gives Way to Youth for the 2028 Olympics

Patrick Mahomes, the talented quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs and three-time NFL champion, has announced that he will not participate in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics with the United States flag football team. The player, known for his outstanding career, prefers to give space to the new generations of athletes.

I think I’ll leave that to the younger players since I’ll be a bit older by the time that competition comes around.

Mahomes, who is currently 29 years old, believes that at 32, the age he would be for the Olympic event, he would not be in his best physical shape to compete at the highest level. The quarterback, recognized as Most Valuable Player in Super Bowl LIV, LVII and LVIII, has made this decision thinking about the future of the sport.

Despite not being on the field as a player, Mahomes celebrates the inclusion of flag football in the Olympic program. He highlights the opportunity this represents for his peers and for the expansion of the sport worldwide.

I think it’s great this opportunity at the Olympics to show the NFL to the whole world through flag football.

Mahomes also talked about his role as a guide for the younger players on the Chiefs. He highlighted the importance of connecting with the new talents and motivating them to give their best in each game.

The Chiefs’ main goal, according to Mahomes, is to recover from the defeat suffered in Super Bowl LIX and lead the team to its fourth Super Bowl since 2019.

With Mahomes at the helm, the Chiefs have participated in five of the last six Super Bowls, securing victories in the LIV, LVII, and LVIII editions.
